Librarian visit

Librarians:

We had the pleasure of receiving a visit from two excellent librarians from the Glenfield Library. They put on an excellent demonstration of how books can be told using creative prompts and expression.

They also showed us how IT is becoming more and more integrated into books. Please make sure you visit your local library and ask for more information.

Creating our Neurons

After the visit from the nueroscientists, we unpacked the job of the neuron. We were able to identify the different parts of the neuron.

Carla is creating her neuron by adding dendrites to her nucleus (round part)
The dendrites job is to receive messages.
Rowyn, Maui and MacKenzie are adding the axon (long thin body part) to their neuron.
The axon's job is to send the message down the neuron to the axon terminal,
which then passes the message to the next neuron.

Carla has completed her neuron.
All students created a mini information report which you can view on our back wall.
Spin it around and it will describe each of part of the neuron and their particular job!

Oscar presented a very clear illustration of how each part of the

neuron worked.

Great effort!

Mini Olympics

Thank you to the senior syndicate who organised a fantastic event. This provided opportunities for students to have a go at sports they may not normally participate in - this allowed for great sportsmanship and taking risks!

Some great making of the archery device!

Coastal sustainability

The middle syndicate had the pleasure of listening to a guest speaker who discussed significant reasons why we should look after and take good care of our beaches.

Taking greater care and responsibility ensures our beaches and coastal areas are kept clean, but more importantly that our sea life remains free from plastics and debris.

We discussed the importance and key features of refuse, reuse and recycle.
